Grade 6 V.I.P. Program

The Values, Influences and Peers program, also known as the V.I.P. program is geared to grade 6 students and is taught throughout Ontario. It is an educational, pro-active partnership between the schools and police officers.

Topics which are covered include:

  • Values

  • Peer Pressure

  • Authority Figures

  • Drugs, Alcohol

  • Tobacco

  • Vandalism

  • Internet Safety

  • Bullying

  • Theft

  • Rascism

Officers usually spend 6 to 7 one hour sessions with each grade 6 classroom. In Sault Ste. Marie there are 2 officers from the Community Services Branch who attend all schools to present the program. Grade 6 teachers present the remainder of the topics which include, Healthy friendships, Decision Making, Being a Responsible Citizen and Social Diversity. This program helps create a positive relationship between Officers and children.
